DIGIMED presents an innovative interactive App which focuses on tumour specific colorectal procedures. This App has been designed with both the patient and the healthcare professional in mind.
It can be used for junior doctors and medical staff as a key part of their patient facing discussions and for patients and their families to see the type of surgery they may be embarking upon.
DIGIMED has a proven track record in medical videography throughout the UK, Europe and North & South America. In the last five years, DIGIMED has specialised in the delivery of medical and surgical information videos, DVDs and online media tools for the treatment and diagnosis of colorectal disease.
In late 2007, DIGIMED worked with Professor P N Haray a Consultant Surgeon at the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales and visiting Professor of Coloproctology at The University of South Wales, to conceive and produce the award winning A patients guide to colorectal disease. This was a patient driven pathway DVD designed to demystify the process of diagnosis, treatment and recovery from colorectal disease.
The DVD has gone on to win awards at both local and national level and an updated version is in production for early release in 2013.
DIGIMED worked closely with Professor S Dorudi and Umar Shariff on developing online multimedia tools for both open and laparoscopic colorectal procedures. These were designed to provide students with online surgical exposure in cases where OR times were at a premium. Umar Shariff has taken these tools forward and is currently on the conference circuit delivering them to audiences in Europe.
DIGIMED has taken its experience in this surgical discipline to create this App. It features procedural steps for tumour sites within the colon, annotated descriptors on removal of the tumour and a representation of how repair is achieved.
In addition, anatomical structures are included specific to the colon and associated organs. Some gross anatomy images are also included.
A 360 degree spinning version shows how the colon, arteries, veins and lymphatic system are configured and finally a piece about DIGIMED is included.
